Rapid Infection Diagnostics Inc. (RID) Honoured with BioAlberta Technology Innovation Award

Calgary, Alberta. Rapid Infection Diagnostics Inc. (RID) is proud to announce that the company was recognized with the Technology Innovation Award at the BioAlberta 2025 Achievement Awards held during the annual Health and Life Sciences Showcase in Edmonton. This award celebrates RID’s groundbreaking work in advancing diagnostic technology and its real-world impact on healthcare innovation.

The Achievement Awards, presented by BioAlberta, celebrate leaders and innovators whose contributions strengthen Alberta’s life sciences community and support advancements that improve patient outcomes and drive economic growth. Winners are selected for meaningful contributions that push the boundaries of life sciences innovation across the province.

RID’s recognition stems from its development and success in deploying rapid, clinically meaningful diagnostic solutions that address critical gaps in traditional testing. RID’s patented BSIDx platform delivers high-speed pathogen identification and antibiotic sensitivity results, enabling clinicians to make faster, more informed treatment decisions. This technology significantly shortens diagnostic timelines and promises to enhance patient care while lowering healthcare costs.

At the award gala, industry leaders, researchers and stakeholders from across Alberta’s biotech and life sciences sectors gathered to celebrate the region’s innovation achievements. The Technology Innovation Award was presented to Dr. Ian Lewis, CEO and co-founder of RID, in recognition of the company’s transformational work and its continued contribution to shaping the future of rapid diagnostics in Canada and beyond.

“We are deeply honoured to receive this award from BioAlberta,” said Dr. Lewis. “This reflects the dedication of our entire team and our partners in tackling one of the most pressing challenges in healthcare today: delivering the right diagnostic answer at the right time. This recognition fuels our commitment to drive further innovation and expand access to rapid diagnostic tools that improve patient outcomes around the world.”

The BioAlberta Achievement Awards are part of the Health and Life Sciences Showcase, an event that also featured panel discussions on emerging healthcare technologies, ecosystem growth, and the economic impact of life sciences in Alberta. The event underscored the strength of the province’s life sciences community and its growing influence nationally and internationally.
